I've been having some frustrating feeding sessions over the months with my 2 year old Chloe to get her to try new foods. I talked with Katie Goodman of Good Life Eats and a food writer for CRAFT about my dilemma back last fall. Katie's a mom of two kids and she knew right away my frustration. We both thought it would be great to have her tips be an article on CRAFT so I'm so happy that her article, Kids Kitchen: 5 Ways to Make a Meal More Exciting just went up today. Check it out for all these tips that will help you feed your picky child and also at the same time, give you a sigh of relief that you are not alone!
I did try today at lunch to make the idea of a sandwich pretty but using a heart cookie cutter. See?! Isn't it pretty enough to eat?! It didn't work at all, she kept saying "No sandwich!" even though I convinced her that Donald Duck and Daisy (who she loves) gave me the recipe.
I'm not going to give up. This is definitely taking a lot of energy from me but I figure eventually one day she'll be curious and will try something out. I'm just trying to make it all fun, colorful, and pretty enough for her to eat! Tomorrow I am going to try Katie's idea of a smoothie. Should be easier since we got some new fun crazy straws for her to drink with.
