It's been three months of searching for a decent priced Elsa doll from Disney's Frozen movie. I beat myself up for not getting it for her in early December since I told her we had to watch the movie first to see if we even liked it. When we finally saw the movie after Christmas, Elsa dolls were no where to be found. And if you did find them online, their prices were around $50! Both Target and the Disney Stores are sold out of Elsa dolls (sometimes there are just a few Annas) and they aren't sure when they will get new stock in. Target lists that Elsa is in store but doesn't tell you that they have the same code for both the Elsa and Anna dolls. Most of the clerks there said they haven't seen an Elsa in ages. This is the first time as a mom I am experiencing such hoopla over a little plastic doll.
With the DVD coming out soon, I am hopeful a new stock of toys will arrive but I am not sure how crazy things will sell out or if they will even have any dolls available. Right now (at the time I am writing this), you can get the Mattel version of the Disney Frozen Sparkle Princess Elsa Doll for just $16.99 on Amazon. (Make sure it is sold by Amazon and not a 3rd party. Those seem to sell them at higher prices.) I am guessing Amazon is getting new stock in periodically so check back at different times in the day note the price listed on the page. I bought this yesterday afternoon and last night the price and seller changed. This morning, it was back to $16.99 with Amazon selling it. It's all very strange so just go with me here on this because it seems like by just being diligent and checking back often, you can find it at the right price and sold by Amazon.
I was finally so excited to find the doll under $20, I figured I should throw in the Disney Frozen Sparkle Anna Doll too (also $16.99 on Amazon). I have found that Mattel versions of dolls have better hair than the Disney Store versions which get ratty and tangled within a week. Maybe they know hair better because they also make Barbie. Who knows!
Hope this helps any mom right now who is trying to find an Elsa doll for their little girl!
