Toca Boca has launched a new app today, Toca Lab: Plants ($2.99 at App Store | Google Play | Amazon ). The botanical world gets a huge dose of Toca Boca's whimsical sense of humor. My science-loving daughter has been having a total blast with it! She loves all of the quirky plant characters.
To start, kids can pull down the window shade for all the list of plants. It starts with the Madonna Lily (Lilium candidum) and from there kids can make their way to explore 35 different plant characters. Kids can discover plants from five groups: green algae, mosses, ferns, trees and flowering pants. I love that kids also get to learn the Latin names of plants.
Kids can explore all of the instruments in the lab to help the plant grow such as grow light, watering tank and nutrition station. Kids will find that each plant has their own characteristic where some like the grow light and some want to just wiggle away!
There is a cross-breeding machine so kids can take two plants and make something totally unexpected. Right now, Chloe is obsessed with this machine. She laughs when she sees the bizarre creations!
The cloning machine is also fun to watch. The spinner helps generates smaller baby versions of the plant kids wish to clone.
Overall, Toca Lab: Plants let's kids explore the scientific world of plants and immerses them into a fun lab world with lots of fun and humor. As with all Toca Boca games there are no in app purchases or third-party advertising.
