Chloe and I are pretty obsessed with all things Japanese. We discovered Gudetama last year while browsing in the Kinokuniya Bookstore in Japantown. Gudetama is a Sanrio creation but unlike Hello Kitty or Chocolate that are just there to be cute, Gudetama adds that extra dose of humor because he's just so darn lazy! In Japanese, "gude gude" means lazy and "tama" a short form for "tamago" means egg. Life is never easy for Gudetama but it's much cozier with a bacon blanket.
Recently out from Penguin Workshop are two new Gudetama books: Gudetama's Guide to Life ($8.99, text by Brian Telling) and Eggistential Thoughts by Gudetama the Lazy Egg ($8.54, text by Max Bisantz & Francesco Sedita).
Gudetama's Guide to Life is absolutely hilarious! Chloe and I would crack up over how lazy this little egg really is. With the mix of fun illustrations and diagrams, it's truly entertaining.
Eggistential Thoughts is a much simpler book in design but funny all the same. The format features Gudetama on each page with a quote next to it. This page pictured above is how I feel on Mondays.
And who wouldn't have a BFF bacon blanket? The smell of bacon alone is coziness!
There is also Gudetama Mad Libs ($4.99)! I don't have this yet but I imagine it's hilarious from it's blurb where Gudetama tries to avoid ever a verb ending in "ing". LOL!
If you need some tiny Gudetama in your life, try some stickers! I picked up these Gudetama stickers a few months ago from The Fortune Cat on Etsy. This particular one isn't available anymore but they have a lot of Gudetama stickers for sale. This one is similar to the one I got.
