I'm super excited to be a part of Penguin Book's Winter Wonderland Blog Tour. I usually blog about children's book here but this one is actually one for us. Yay! (I posted a story on Instagram of my unboxing last week when I received the book.) Today's featured book is based on the classic holiday tale with a 80's TV sitcom twist -- The Golden Girls!!! The Golden Girls: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Francesco Sedita and Douglas Yacka takes you back in time with your four favorite old ladies in Florida -- Sophia, Dorothy, Blanche and Rose. Sophia was my favorite but I really loved them all.
The rhymes are reminiscent of the classic tale but you'll find that the GG humor and characters are all there as a storm hits Florida and their own families are unable to get to them for Christmas. The girls realize in the end that that hey, they are not just friends, but family too. This book makes the perfect stocking stuffer and I already have two childhood friends that I know I am sending this to for Christmas. Just such a hoot! This book is going to have a special place on display each holiday season from now on!
