Welcome to Adventures in Tinkering with Chloe and Lulu! The stories on this blog are works of fiction, inspired by my crazy Pomeranian Lulu (who is now 13) and my science-loving daughter Chloe (who is now 11). The only thing they have in common with these tales is their first names. I love STEM and hope to inspire more young girls to understand that science, technology, engineering and math are all around us and they are fun!
The first story in my Web series is "The Tinkering Contest" and our heroine Chloe is just a normal 3rd grade girl. Her teacher introduces them to "tinkering" and starts a contest in the class for each of the students to create something made from recycled materials.
There are 10 chapters for this story as it was written with print in mind. Each chapter though is only 2-3 pages. (Audio files with narration will come in early 2020.) Subsequent stories will be shorter than this first one since it will be written directly for the Web. Each story will cover a specific STEM topic with hilarious antics by one silly Pomeranian. As a Maker myself, kids learn by doing so each story will have a corresponding project for a girl to make. The next story is called "Follow the Stars" and covers Astronomy and Space. I hope to have that one up by sometime this spring or summer 2020.
